All ingredients
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 lb brussels sprouts (shaved coursely)
  • 1 Each granny smith apple, peeled and diced (or other firm tart apple)
  • 2 Strip bacon, diced
  • 1 Whole shallot, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground mustard seed
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Heat oil on medium low in saute' pan.

    Add diced bacon and saute' until crisp.

    Add shallots and caramelize.

  2. Add diced apples and saute' until browned on all sides.

  3. Rinse brussels sprouts in cold water, and drain.

    Place brussels sprouts in saute' pan, being careful of spattering.

    Toss brussels sprouts in pan to coat and cover.

    Cook covered 5 to 7 minutes, or until tender.

  4. Combine sugar, vinegar, and mustard powder and add to brussels sprouts.

    Stir to combine.  

    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
