Food and cooking is my PASSION. It always has been. Simple, sophisticated, classical, it doesn’t matter. I love it all. I love to create, I get inspiration from books and media and restaurants. And other chefs. What I love most of all is creating awesome family memories with food. Most of us have some sort of nostalgic family food memory, our favorite dessert or favorite dinner. Something our Mom always cooked. I bet most people reading this always have the same meal for the holidays. Why is that? It may be because we really love Aunt Sally’s turkey. More likely it’s because we love the memories that those meals evoke as much as we love the food. I want to honor the sanctity of those memories, but I also want to create more.
How do you do that in today’s world. I mean, we all have a lot going on. How does anyone find time to cook? Sometimes the answer is… you don’t. But, with a little planning, maybe we can prepare special meals more often. Maybe special meals don’t always have to be meals. My family’s favorite special meal is, of course, PIZZA night. For us that means scratch made dough and all sorts of toppings (so my daughters can make a plain cheese pizza). But, they love being able to stretch and top their own dough. I love an excuse to fire-up my Kamado grill and make an authentic wood fired oven- tasting pizza! Sure, it doesn’t have to be that difficult. A store bought dough baked in the oven on a pizza stone or in a pan is still a great interactive family meal. And is probably just as memorable. The added efforts just build extra layers of flavor.
So follow along with me and my family as I share the recipes I use and create to make delicious meals and memories. And maybe…you won’t have to limit your favorite family food memories to a few times a year.
